Speedy's Foster Adventures!

Hi everyone, it’s me, Speedy! I’ve been with Angel of Hope for a really long time! I’m a very sweet and friendly girl, but I’m also very shy and timid, and take a super long time to come out of my shell… But good news! I’ve just been moved to a brand new foster home! And I’m going to tell you all about my adventures there! This has been my first time being in a home for almost a year. It has all been so new and scary, but every day I have been getting better and better!

This is me when I first got home. I was REALLY scared and hiding wherever I could.  My foster mom would always have to check every corner to find me. I did not realize at the time that this contraption fills with water. My foster mom was nice enough to tell, not show me. I have decided this hiding spot is not for me.

This is me after the first few days in my new foster home. Foster mom has this neat little hidey spot above the cold box they call “the fridge”. Mom was frantic, they couldn’t find me anywhere! I still wasn’t up to socializing yet, so I decided to keep to myself, who wants to have a long conversation in the morning? Am I right? Turns out, foster mom was just trying to give me breakfast. They should’ve just said so!

This is me enjoying my invitation to my foster sibling’s cat tree. I wasn’t quite sure what to think about it. Foster mom kept telling me how proud they were of me. Apparently, humans think laying down is a considerable accomplishment. I got tired of the compliments and decided to retreat back to my haven of solitude above “the fridge”. Foster mom has since learned not to compliment me too much for too long.

This is me lounging in the “laundry room”. Foster mom had been running the dryer and it was nice and warm; who could possibly resist? Foster mom was worried I would be scared of the sounds the machines made. I’m not sure what the big deal is, it’s not half as loud as my foster brothers when they’re playing.

This is me enjoying my crowning achievement, braving the living room! I hadn’t dared to step foot into the common area before then, it was all so open and scary. But, after lots of patience and reassurance from foster mom, I finally decided to give it a try! I see now why foster mom and my foster siblings love to spend so much time on this “couch”, it was extremely comfy! Foster mom, as always, lavished me with praise for my bravery. However, I made it clear that while I did appreciate the praise, foster mom was not allowed to sit with me; not yet.

Angel of Hope is in constant need of foster homes for cats and dogs while they await adoption. Foster care can be as short as an overnight stay after surgery to a longer-term commitment that lasts until the animal gets adopted. Typically, foster care lasts for one to three months but may last longer. AOH will be happy to work with you to meet your needs and match the best foster pet to your household.

If you foster with AOH, you provide training, socialization and lots of love.

We will provide all pre-approved medical care and support for you while the animal is in your home, and the essentials like food, litter and other supplies needed to help ensure fostering is a great experience for you and the pet!
