Thank you for saving Sonya!
Update 1/16/2023: Sonya is now available for adoption at the Plymouth PetSmart!
Update 1/4/2023: Sonya's surgery was a great success! She is doing very well. Since her surgery took place, she has had a drain removed. And her sutures will be removed next week. She is on meds three times a day.
If you look at these photos of Sonya, we have a picture of her before her drain was removed, and one of her after the drain was removed.
And that awful sound she made when she would inhale? It's totally gone!
Now she is just a purrrrrring machine!
Sonya is eating and drinking normally. And slowly but surely, her little personality is coming back. She's a playful girl, and we are seeing that come back each and every day.
This little one is a fighter!
We have to thank everyone again, for your donations, and sharing of our posts, for Sonya! It is because of YOU, that she will get the second chance that she deserves! You helped save a life! And Angel of Hope, and this sweet little girl, Sonya, could not be more grateful! Thank you!
Update 12/28/2022: Sonya needed a Christmas miracle to save her life - and she got it!
Sonya had her surgery today, and we are so happy to let everyone know that it was a success!
Sonya had a very large polyp in her throat. It was causing her major breathing problems, and it was only getting worse.
Thankfully, her surgery went well, and she is now in recovery with the vet. They are keeping her overnight for observation, as this was a major surgery. But they are making sure to update us as much as they can, and they tell us that she is doing great!
We will know more tomorrow, and hopefully get to see her tomorrow! We will be sure to post more updates as they come in.
Thank you to everyone that donated towards Sonya's life saving surgery! Thank you to everyone that shared our Sonya posts. If it wasn't for you, this would have never been possible. And Sonya's story would have a much different ending. YOU saved a life today. We are so thankful for such kind and supportive people like you. Thank you for making Sonya's Christmas and New Year a great one!
12/19/2022: This is Sonya. Sonya is a 6 month old brown tabby. She is an absolute sweetheart, full of life and spunk. Unfortunately, this little girl has had a lot of challenges since coming into our care. Sonya joined us with her 2 litter mates, all three were riddled with ringworm. They started treatment under our Vet Team and were recovering well.
Then URI hit. Kittens with colds need to be very closely monitored because they get such stuffy noses, and tend to stop eating.
After recovering from URI, we discovered a much bigger problem with Sonya. A problem that will need major surgery… Sonya is in need of a huge Christmas miracle this year.
After being sedated, examined and going to a specialist, it was determined that Sonya has a large lump in the back of her throat, known as a polyp. This has not affected her too much, but it needs to be removed.
She is needing major surgery and will require a special procedure by a specialist. The estimated cost for surgery is $3,300. This does not include all of the of the other vet appointments that have already been done. We are asking everyone to please help us raise the money and share this post to help pay for her surgery/medical bills.
This beautiful and amazing girl that has battled through life coming from Texas and battling illnesses while here is asking for your help so she can finally find her forever home. She has been with a foster for a little over a month and she is thriving, but is limited on her activity as her breathing gets labored from too much play time.
Her procedure is set for just after Christmas where she will spend two days at the clinic until we can pick her up.
As you all know, prices on everything from cat litter, to cat food and dog food, and everything in between, has skyrocketed.
Angel of Hope is a nonprofit organization; therefore, we exist solely on the contributions of individual animal lovers like you. We do not receive funding from any local, state, or federal organizations. We do fundraising, grant-writing, and collect adoption fees, but this revenue does not entirely cover the cost of the direct and indirect care of the animals in our care. And we have 150+ animals in our care, at any given time.
With adoptions down, and everything from supplies to vet care costing so much more than usual, we are asking for your help with Sonya’s surgery. We do not want to have to cancel her surgery, but we may have to if we cannot raise enough money.
We have a short video of Sonya below. When you watch the video, volume up so you can hear her labored breathing.
Will you help this angel get her Christmas miracle?
