Barbossa

Look at what a difference rescue makes!

Barbossa came to us from a local farm last winter that was overwhelmed with cats. On the day of our visit, we took in five cats, all suffering from severe upper respiratory infections, with Barbossa in the worst condition. Our vet team examined them immediately and started them on antibiotics and antiviral medications. While the others improved quickly, Barbossa’s recovery lagged, and our worst fears were confirmed – he had FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis)

Our vet promptly began Barbossa on the intensive and costly 88-day antiviral treatment course. Although his improvement was slower than expected, we were encouraged by his progress. After completing FIP treatment, Barbossa entered a crucial observation period, as cats can experience a relapse in health. And thankfully, Barbossa got through the observation period and has remained healthy and strong!

Unfortunately, he then required a full dental treatment due to stomatitis, a painful condition where his immune system was attacking his teeth.

Despite these challenges, Barbossa remained a resilient and sweet boy who purrs loudly! And always a staff favorite around Angel of Hope!

Barbossa received his required dental treatment, and finally left the shelter this week to find his forever family.

He was at the Roseville PetSmart only a couple of HOURS before being adopted!

It's hard to believe that is the same cat in those photos! He has come so far! All of us at Angel of Hope wish him the very best life with his new family! Thank you for choosing adoption!

Happy forever, Barbossa!
